This is great news! Besides NIDA putting up grant money for Kratom research, now Congress is giving them money to help aid research for the study of Kratom.
In the excerpt below (from the 2021 bill) it plainly states that the committee recognizes the potential promise of Kratom derivatives for acute and chronic pain patients seeking a safer alternative.
This is HUGE. This act demonstrates the promise, they see in Kratom. They are actively taking an interest in this plant. Hopefully, this will put the FDA’s disinformation campaign to rest, and weaken it.
Kratom NEEDS to be studied. It deserves to shine brightly, with truth. With that said, I pray that we can keep this plant on the holistic side and no prescription is needed for it in the future.

‘Kratom.--The Committee encourages NIDA to expand research
on all health impacts of kratom, including its constituent
compounds, mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine. The Committee
is aware of the potential promise of kratom-derived compounds
for acute and chronic pain patients who seek safer alternatives
to sometimes dangerously addictive and potentially deadly
prescription opioids.’
